ABOUT SIERRA IN A DAY

I think that the Sierra Nevada is the best place in the world. I'm trying to better understand the Sierra by systematically climbing Sierra peaks and writing about what I find. My only rules are that I try to climb each peak via its most fun route. 'Fun' is different for everyone but I really enjoy climbing and skiing. So for example, while North Peak near Tioga Pass can be climbed via a low angle Class II route on its south slopes, my trip report is for the knife-edge class 4 northwest ridge.

In addition, I personally do not enjoy carrying a heavy pack. However, the Sierra is less than 100 miles across at its widest and so theoretically the whole range can be explored through a series of day trips. All of these trips recorded here can be done in a day by the right person with the right attitude.

How to use this website: All posts appear on the Home page where they can be browsed or sorted by trip type (climbing, skiing, running, etc). If you are looking for a specific type of trip, the Trips by Location page links to a Caltopo map with coordinates for each trip, and a table allows sorting by trailhead, difficulty, and duration of trip along with links to the report.

Enjoy!
